Blog Response #2 (9/20/2007)

Welcome back!

On Blog #2 we ask you to respond to the article you received entitled "To Sleepy to Think."

1) What do you think? Do you wish school started later in the day even if it meant the time school ended was later? (example: School would begin at 9 and end at 4:15.) Why?

2) Do you think that the time school starts should stay the same? Explain why?

3)What other pros and cons might students/teachers, etc. face if the school day was shortened or lengthened? (Would it effect afterschool activities, students' jobs, etc.)

4) Who would benefit the most by this time change? (Teachers, students, parents) How would they benefit?

Each response should be at least 4-5 sentences long.

Make sure to support and develop your response so that fellow classmates can better understand where you're coming from and why you believe the way you do.

1 - i think that school should start late because me being a student i have a hard time geting up in the morning's i knopw that if i have a hard time then ther kids must have a hard time geting ready for school. And i have a hard time at shjool in the morning to though but i still say that we should have more time to sleep befor we go to school. (Comment this)

2 - No I don't think the school should start later in the day because it's not worth it to say later. The school day would be better shortened, mainly because it gives more time to the students who have jobs, chors, and other things they have tyo do outside of school that school, just takes away the time to do it. Parents, students, and teachers would all benifit by a shortening of the schedual, the only catch is that there would have to be a pay conpensation for the teachers to make sure they still get the wage they should, but over all the time given back that school takes away with how long the school day is and the unesisary homework given by teachers would make lives better. (Comment this)

4 - I think that school starts a a good time and gets out at a ggod time. Its not too early in the morning and when we get out we still have some day time to do things. Yes i think that the school times should start at the same time. it would be harder for the parents for the kids who cant drive cause they would have to get off work early just to come and get them. and then the sports atfer school would either start too early or too late, and then if they start late then the practice will end late and you wont have time to do your homework. it wouldnt really benifit anyone. (Comment this)

5 - im fine with the scudule we have now. nothing goes on before school. so i would rather have more time after school to do stuff. if the school day was shortened we would have to go to school for a longer part of the year. if it was lengthened, students and teachers would complain alot about the hours but they would appreciate the lengthened summer vacation.students always benifit more because of the education they're getting, but teachers dont bennifit as much because they just have to deal with a lot of crap from the students. but i dont ever see that changing. (Comment this)

6 - I think school just keep this time or go earlier. I want to have more my own time after school. and there is no meaning either student go school later if they go to sleep late. I want school to start earlier then student can have enough time to do what they wnat after done with home work or study for test. If we start school start later or earlier I don't think their will gonna be that much differance if it's just one or two hours. just people'll gonna have little bit schedule. I don't think no body 'll gonna benefit eather time is change school time because teacher and students work together and parents doesn't care. (Comment this)
